I love this post. Thanks so much for it. I found this to be true with my other creative endeavors-parenting and a teaching career. It is true that it takes total immersion to be effective at both. I've just never thought about it in relationship to other forms of creativity. I'm exploring writing because there are circumstances occurring in my life that are leading me toward writing. In the past, I have always hit the wall and quit to soon. Thanks again! Jayla
There can be a lot of stopping and starting when you first try all this. Early on, it helped me to remember that I couldn't guarantee I'd ever get published but I could guarantee I never would be. For that, all I had to do was quit trying. The same with finishing a manuscript.
